My name is Lamech Fuzzen. I grew up in the small town of Crawford Bay in the BC Kootenays before experiencing short stints in Thunder Bay ON and Glendon AB. I also lived in Abbotsford for five years while I did my Bachelor of Kinesiology. Having lived in a variety of places has taught me much about myself but also others. Each city/town has a unique makeup of individuals and in some ways its own culture that has evolved through time as the cities expanded. Each time I moved to a new city i was part of different diverse groups, and this has expanded my appreciation for diversity. I can now look at different cultures, religions, values and appreciate the differences rather than compare and contrast to discover which one is better.

Inspiring youth and making a difference in the lives of many through teaching has been my goal since I was in high school. Throughout high school I was involved in mentoring programs and summer camps for youth. In university I continued mentoring youth through volunteering for Big Brother Big Sister with an after school sports program for kids. My goal has always been to become an elementary school teacher. However; after graduating with my Bachelor of Kinesiology degree, plans for an education degree were put on hold. I believe the break in academia and the subsequent professional experiences led me to where I’m now, more prepared and more confident in my ability to be and educator and enhance the lives of the next generation.

Aside from teaching I value life long learning, adventure, family, helping others while promoting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I have experienced some remarkable adventures in my life with, with my first solo train ride from Ontario to Kamloops 15 years ago at the forefront. Major hikes like the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island and the Napali Coast on Kauai being equally breathtaking. These adventures and others have brought perspective and worldly experience to my life that have enhanced my ability to relate to others and build rapport.

During my high school and early adult years my identity was centred around athletics. In my grade 12 year I played for as many sports teams as I could. I was on the Soccer, Volleyball, Badminton, Golf and Wrestling teams. I won athlete of the month for city championship in badminton. I still continue to play soccer and badminton and am always up for drop in sports of any kind. I ‘m an avid reader of both fiction and non fiction. Reading a plethora of books from a multitude of genres continues to challenge and expand my perspectives. A couple of my favorite book series’ are The Wheel of Time “Robert Jordan”,The Inheritance Trilogy “Christopher Paolini”.

It has been a long road of adventure full of all sorts of experiences over the last 10 years to bring my career back to where I was aiming for as an educator. Going forward I hope to continue furthering my own growth and development as an educator while, being the best teacher I can be.
